Delta Devils Drop Final Home Contest to the Golden Lions, 94-75

Greenwood, Miss. --- The Mississippi Valley State University Delta Devils hosted the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff in their final home contest. The game was originally scheduled for Thursday evening, however due to safety restraints the game was postponed. The Golden Lions took the game 94-75.
 
UAPB struck first scoring at the 19:25 and 18:59 marks to take an early 6-0 lead. Undeterred the Delta Devils landed their first basket at the 18:24 mark, this was the beginning of a seven point run by Mississippi Valley; putting them up by one. The Golden Lions tied the game at the free throw line. Latrell Love delivered the tiebreaking basket with a layup inside the paint. The remainder of the half saw UAPB take a commanding lead, however the Delta Devils were able to cut the lead going into the break down 33-41.
 
During the first, MVSU scored eight points in the paint and 12 points off turnovers. Their opponents were able to land 10 points in the paint and 10 points on turnovers. The second half was largely in favor of UAPB, however MVSU never stopped fighting. Facing a deficit of over 20 points, the Delta Devils cut into the lead but three-pointers proved to be their Achilles heel.
 
Jeffrey Simmons finished the contest with 22-points to pace the MVSU offensive unit. He also contributed six assists. Issac Williams tallied 16-points, two rebounds, two steals and one assist.
 
Marcel Mosley led the Golden Lions with 34 points, three steals, two assists and one rebound.
