DECATUR, Ala. --- Mississippi Valley State University squared off against Southern University in game two of the 2015 Southwestern Athletic Conference softball tournament, defeating the Lady Jaguars 6-1.
The Devilettes took an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first, when Ane Pahulu's single scored Omeshia Moffett. The score remained locked with MVSU maintaining a one run lead until the fifth inning. Alexandra Dobbins landed a homer over the left field, scoring Pahulu. After five complete, the score was 3-0, in favor of Mississippi Valley.
In the sixth, Bria Daniels connected on a left field homerun; the Lady Jags scored their solo run in the bottom of the inning. In the top of the seventh, Annaisa Sanchez and Chelsea Tate wrapped scoring for the game.
Haley Young took the win on the mound, moving to 9-16 on the season; while Rebekah Clinton received the save.
The Devilettes will face the Jackson State University Lady Tigers at 2:30 pm on Thursday, May 7, 2015.
