ITTA BENA, Miss. --- The Mississippi Valley State University women's soccer team dropped their season opener to the Golden Eagles of Oral Roberts, 3-0.
Â
MVSU (0-1-0) played an intense first half, conceding only one goal during the first 45 minutes.
Â
Head Coach N. Fabio Boateng said, "It was a tough first game. We played against a quality Oral Roberts team and I think the first half of the game plan worked, for the most part, until a lapse in concentration in the last five minutes of the half."
Â
The Golden Eagles scored their first goal in the 39th minute of the first half, then added another in the 51st minute on a pass in front of the net. The final goal was scored at the 77:12 mark, sealing the 3-0 for the home team.
Â
The Devilettes will return to home sweet home, Itta Bena, Mississippi, for the home opener on Sunday, August 23 at 3:00 p.m. against Southeastern Louisiana University Lady Lions.
Â
"We need to get a response on Sunday against a good team in Southeastern Louisiana," stated Boateng.
