After 110 Minutes – Devilettes and Lady Tigers End in Tie

Jackson, Miss. --- The Mississippi Valley State University Devilettes and the Lady Tigers of Jackson State University, played each other to a 2-2 tie on Sunday afternoon.

Head Coach Fabio Boateng stated, "We did everything right to win the game, the ball just refused to enter the net."

Nykosi Simmons continued her hot streak, scoring the first goal for Mississippi Valley and her 12th of the season. Mariana Balbao is credited with the assist.

A penalty kick by Jackson State's Arriana Rieland knotted the score at one. Undettered, the Devilettes rallied back to retake the lead on a Laadi Issaka goal.

In 110 minutes of play, Rita Gyasi recorded 10 saves and conceded two goals.

"JSU came to play, it was a very physical game but we were up to it. We were unlucky not to win the contest, as we created better chances," said Boateng.

MVSU's soccer voyage continues on Friday, October 2 at 7:00 p.m. in Prairie View, Texas.
