STARKVILLE, Miss. --- The Mississippi Valley State Devilettes dropped 3-0 decisions to Mississippi State University and Stetson in the final day of the Maroon Classic.
 
In the contest against the hosting Bulldogs, the Devilettes tallied 19 kills and 22 errors on 88 total attacks. Marissa Chalmers led MVSU with eight kills, while Halle Gayten added five. Cynthia Richardson had two blocks, while Maranda Tapia finished with one. Tapia paced the team in assists with 15 and Kalin Barnes had the most digs with nine. The score by set: 25-9, 25-2 and 25-16.

In their final contest of the conference, the Devilettes played the Hatters of Stetson University. The Hatters won the final contest in three very close sets (25-15, 25-23, 25-23).
 
Mississippi Valley finished the contest with 30 kills and 17 errors on 89 attacks. Gayten led the offensive charge with 14 kills, one ace, three blocks and 11 digs. Tapia picked up 19 digs to lead the category. 

The Devilettes will be back in action on September 15, when they return to Itta Bena for their home opener against Tougaloo College. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
