GREENWOOD, Miss. – The Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils fought a hard triple overtime battle to the Braves of the Alcorn State, before dropping the contest 93-87.
Mississippi Valley dominated the opening half, going into the break 40-27, however the Braves flipped the score in the second to end regulation 67 all. In the first two overtimes, each team scored seven points.
In the triple overtime period, the Delta Devils were unable to overcome the swing in momentum in favor of Alcorn State. With a three-point basket the Braves took the lead in the beginning of the period. Mississippi Valley was unable to score on their next possession, however the Braves were able to score again to extend their lead.
Damian Young exploded for the Delta Devils with 24-points, eight rebounds, two steals and one assist, while Isaac Williams tallied 23-points, eight rebounds. Rashaan Surles tipped in 11-points, two steals and two assists, as Vacha Vaughn finished with 10-points, seven rebounds, five assists and one steal.
