– The Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils fought a hard battle against the Texas Southern Tigers, however the second half was dominated by TSU. MVSU was unable to overcome the point difference, with the Tigers taking the victory 75-60.
Isaac Williams demanded attention on the floor leading all scorers with 22-points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals. Kylan Phillips and Marcus Romain each finished with nine points and three rebounds. Phillips also added three steals, while Romain chipped in one steal.
Mississippi Valley and Texas Southern went back and forth during the opening half before Texas Southern was able to take a two-point lead into halftime. Down 33-31 after the break MVSU was not out of the contest.
The second half proved to be more of an uphill battle for the Delta Devils. The Tigers were able command both ends of the court and that proved to be problematic for MVSU. Being out rebounded served as the Achilles heel of Mississippi Valley in tonight's contest.
The Delta Devils will be back in action on Monday, January 25
th, when they travel to Prairie View, Texas, to face the Prairie View A & M University Panthers. Tip-off is set for 7:30 PM.
