ITTA BENA, Miss. –The Devilettes of Mississippi Valley entered the contest against the Lady Golden Lions of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff with fire blazing as they took the opening set, 25-18. Despite the strong opening, UAPB took the match 3-1.

The Lady Golden Lions took the remaining sets, 25-20, 25-23 and 25-23. Each set was a battle; however, it was UAPB who held the competitive edge. Being within striking distance of the victory during each set was a difficult pill for the Devilettes to swallow.

Kalin Barnes recorded 22 kills for the Devilettes and Cynthia Richardson tallied 11; while Megan Jones added eight. Jaime Polk and Brooklyn Hudson each tallied two service aces, Briana Watkins added one ace for MVSU. Polk recorded 30 assists for the Devilettes, Hudson recorded 9 assists for MVSU to pace the team. Sydney Robinson paced the team with 28 digs while Kalin Barnes and Marissa Chalmers tallied 11 and 10 digs respectively.

The Devilettes will return to action on Tuesday, October 18 at 7:00 p.m. when they host the Lady Gamecocks of the Jacksonville State University.
