ITTA BENA, Miss. – Mississippi Valley entered the contest looking to bounce back after a disappointing loss on Friday night to Texas Southern. While facing their second Houston area team in the Lady Panthers of Prairie View A & M University, the contest wavered back and forth before ending in a 1-1 tie after two overtime periods.
Karenth Zabala scored the Devilettes only goal on a cross from Laadi Issaka in the 22nd minute of the first half. PVAMU responded with a goal of their own in the 23rd minute.
Rita Gyasi, MSVU's goalie, made three saves, one in the first and two during the second. Prairie View's goalie was able to record six saves; two in the first, three in the second and one in the extra periods.
MVSU will travel to the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff on October 14 at 3:00 p.m. before moving on to Grambling State University on October 16. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
