BATON ROUGE – The Delta Devils of Mississippi Valley wrapped up the 2016 campaign facing the Jaguars of Southern University. MVSU was unable to gain any traction offensively en route to dropping the contest 55-0.
In the opening quarter, Southern scored 10-points; including a 23-yard pass from Austin Howard. The touchdown capped a five play, 76-yard drive. The Jaguars also scored a 20-yard field goal with 5:41 remaining in the period.
In the second, SU exploded with 24-points. A two-yard pass from Howard topped off a 10-play, 55-yard drive to increase their lead. Southern scored two addition touchdowns and a field goal before the buzzer signified the end of the half.
In the third, the Jaguars added 14-points to their lead. Both touchdowns were scored on the ground; a 27-yarder and a two-yarder.
The fourth, Mississippi Valley held Southern to seven-points.
On the defensive front, Patrick Harbin, Jr. tallied eight tackles, five solo and three assists. Walter Sandifer, Aubrey Powell, Bryant Jones and Khalil Young each added five tackles.
