GREENWOOD, Miss. – The Devilettes were unable to establish a clear rhythm against the Lady Panthers of Prairie View A & M University, as they were swept under 81-50 in their last home game of the season.
In the opening quarter, MVSU scored five while PVAMU scored 16. In the second the Lady Panthers scored 20-points while holding the Devilettes to 12. The third quarter saw Mississippi Valley outscored the Lady Panthers 20-14. The final quarter's momentum swung in favor of PVAMU to the tune of 31-13.
Ashley Beals scored 20-points, seven rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal to lead Mississippi Valley in their offensive tactic. Feleshia Walters, in her final home contest as a Devilette, added 14-points, six rebounds and one assist. Zemoria Jernigan tallied 11-points, three rebounds and one assist.
Mississippi Valley shot 71.4 percent from the free throw line, making 10-of-14 baskets. Beyond the arch, Mississippi Valley was able to land 4-18, for a 22.2 percentage on the night.
Mississippi Valley travels to Jackson, Mississippi, on Saturday, February 27 to face the Lady Tigers of Jackson State at 5:00 pm.
