Greenwood, Miss. – The Mississippi Valley State Devilettes placed tremendous pressure on the Lady Bulldogs of Alabama A & M University, however AAMU was able to take the contest 84-74.
The first two quarters were heavily in favor of the Lady Bulldogs, with the visitors maintaining a 47-38 lead going into the locker room. Kahdejah Stevens paced MVSU with 16 points, five rebounds and one block. Christina Reed added 12.
In the third, it appeared as if Alabama A & M would run away with the contest. Leading by a margin of 17, at the end of the quarter, 69-55, the Devilettes had their work cut out for them.
MVSU came to life in the fourth, blazing through defensive pitfalls and landing points from every angle on the floor. Despite their rally, the Devilettes were unable to pick up the conference win.
Stevens wrapped with 28 points, nine rebounds, three blocks and one steal to lead the team; however Reed's daring stunts produced 27 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and two steals for a double double.
Mississippi Valley travels to Alcorn State University on Saturday, February 13 to face the Lady Braves. Tipoff is set for 3:00 pm.
