GRAMBLING, La. – The Devilettes of Mississippi Valley State fought for the entire game yet were unable to topple the Lady Tigers of Grambling State in a 79-55-road loss.
Ashley Beals showed "Olajuwon" like footwork burning the Lady Tigers for 23-points and seven rebounds. Beals had to sit most of the third and fourth quarters due to a rough tumble, however she was blazed through the opposition's defense.
Chealsea Tate added 11 points and seven turnovers for the Devilettes with Zemoria Jernigan close behind with 10 points going 2-2 from behind the arc.
The Cinderella in the contest was Erica Strothers, who went 4-4 from the charity stripe while hitting the defensive boards for a rebound. Strothers hopes to take the momentum of this performance into the conference tournament.
The Devilettes travel to Little Rock, Arkansas, to face the Lady Lions of Arkansas Pine Bluff Friday March 5.
