PINE BLUFF, Ark. – The Mississippi Valley State University Devilettes were seeking to close the regular season with a win over the Lady Lions of the University of Arkansas – Pine Bluff. They fell short of their goal, dropping the contest 81-53.
MVSU took the opening quarter 17-14, despite the score being tied twice. Pine Bluff was able to knot the score during those two opportunities, however they were unable to surge past the Devilettes during the first.
Going into halftime, UAPB held a 42-30 advantage over the Devilettes. Ashley Beals paced MVSU during the first half with nine points. Feleshia Walters dominated the paint with seven rebounds.
Beals completed the contest with 24-points, six rebounds and two steals. Paxton Rodocker tallied eight points, seven rebounds, four steals and one assist.
The Devilettes are headed to Houston, Texas, for the Southwestern Athletic Conference Basketball Tournament. MVSU will open the tournament with the Lady Braves of Alcorn State University. Tip-off is set for Tuesday, March 8 at 12:00 PM.
