MONTGOMERY – The Delta Devils of Mississippi Valley and the Hornets of Alabama State were unable to play on yesterday due to bad weather in the Montgomery, Alabama, area. The two teams met today in a doubleheader. In game one ASU took the first contest 27-2 and game two 3-0.
Game One:
MVSU was held scoreless in the first inning, while the Hornets knocked in six runs. In the second, the Delta Devils scored one runner; Justin Neese singled to bring in Arrington Smith.
In the third, Alabama State scored 17 runs and one more on in the fourth. Mississippi Valley scored their final run in the top of the sixth. Neese reached on a fielder's choice while Chris McWright scored.
Alabama State scored three runs in the seventh to wrap scoring.
Game Two:
Game two didn't have as much scoring as the first game in the double.
The Hornets scored one run in the first, fourth and fifth.
Mississippi Valley finished with three hits and no errors. Arrington Smith took the loss for the Delta Devils on the mound, dropping to 1-3 on the season.
