ITTA BENA – The Mississippi Valley State Devilettes were unable to gain any traction in their evening contest against the Bears of the University of Central Arkansas, falling 7-0.
With a scoreless first inning, the two teams entered the second with moving ahead of the opponent to secure the victory. The Bears were able to score four in the second, two of which were homers.
The third and fourth innings were bland in comparison, as both teams were scoreless. In the top of the fifth, UCA was able to get one runner home. The sixth inning saw Central Arkansas add an additional two runs.
Mississippi Valley finished with five hits and two errors. Shyanne Downing took the loss for the Devilettes on the mound.
MVSU travels to Houston, Texas, to face the Lady Tigers of Texas Southern in an epic Battle of the Southwestern Athletic Conference this week. The first game between the two will take place on ESPNU. First pitch is scheduled for Thursday, March 24th at 4:00 pm.
