ITTA BENA -  The Mississippi Valley State Devilettes defeated the Lady Braves of Alcorn State University 2-1 in game one of their three game series.
 
The game began slowly for both teams, as neither was able to score in the first two innings. The Lady Braves struck first with a run in the top of the third.
 
The fourth was scoreless for both. MVSU knotted the score at 1-all in the bottom of the fifth, with a single by Kailyn Dunn singled to score Alexandra Dobbins.
 
The game appeared to be heading into extra innings; the Devilettes were up to bat, there were two outs and a routine play would have retired the inning. An error by the Alcorn pitcher sent Deja Talton speeding across the home plate for a Mississippi Valley victory.
