ITTA BENA, Miss. --- The Mississippi Valley State University Devilettes soccer team opened their season and home campaign hosting the Warhawks of the University of Louisiana- Monroe.

With an overcast sky, the Devilettes were unable to overcome a 4-0-deficit en-route to falling to the Warhawks. MVSU drops to 0-1 on the season, however they came out strong, displaying their athletic ability on the field.

Mississippi Valley held ULM scoreless for the first 30 minutes of the opening half before conceding two at 30:44 and 31:25. The third goal was scored at 37:14, on a penalty kick, to close the half 3-0.

In the opening half, Rita Gyasi recorded four saves, while facing 11 shots. ULM's Brooke Scroggins faced one shot on goal for a save.

In the second half, the Warhawks scored their final goal of the contest in the 64
th minute.

Gyasi finished the contest with 12 saves while facing 16 on target shots.

The Devilettes will travel to Ruston, Louisiana, to face Lady Techsters of Louisiana Tech on August 26. Kickoff is set for 7:00 pm.
