ITTA BENA – The Delta Devils football team were unable to settle into a rhythm to defeat the Tigers of Jackson State. With a final of 24-5, it was a highly defensive contest.
Nicholas Jacquemin's 42-yard field goal at 2:25 started scoring for the contest. In the second Jackson State, scored on a three-yard dash. With 54-seconds remaining in the half, JSU pushed through a 38-yard field goal.
In the third, the Tigers found the end zone on a 12-yard run by Jordan Johnson. A high snap by Jackson State landed in the end zone, giving the Delta Devils a safety.
Johnson found the end zone for the third time with 2:59 remaining in the contest.
Jett Even passed for 89-yards, while Dewayne Betts finished with 26-yards. Defensively, Jerry Garner paced the team with 11 tackles (8 solo, 3 assists) and Adam Hamilton tallied nine (4 solo, 5 assists), 1.5 tackles for a loss of three. Theron Chatman pulled down an interception and returned it 24-yards.
