MVSU Soccer Falls 2-0 to Howard

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Mississippi Valley traveled to Birmingham, Alabama, to face off against the Lady Bisons of Howard University, falling 2-0 at Sicard Hollow Park. The contest was televised on the SWAC Digital Network.  

HU took twice as many shots, 18-9, while taking a 13-1 advantage in corner kicks.  

After a scoreless first half, Aleeya Sawyer scored the match's first goal at the 74-minute mark on a rebound, 1-0. 

With less than three minutes remaining, Makela Davidson assisted Sawyer with the insurance goal, 2-0.

Defensively, Gabrielle Emilien played over 70 minutes and allowed no goals. The Toronto native stopped five goals in the victory.

Mississippi Valley's Rita Gyasi recorded seven saves, while conceding the two goals, in the 90-minutes of play.
