Drake 96, Mississippi Valley State 60
BOULDER, Colo. – The Devilettes of Mississippi Valley State dropped to 0-4 on the season, after a 96-60 loss to Drake in the Coors Events Center, while playing in the Colorado Thanksgiving tournament.
LaKendra Bassett paced Mississippi Valley with 20-points, while Kristy Parker tallied 15-points and Desiray Mosley chipped in 11. Parker also added four-rebounds and three steals to aid the Devilettes' offense; Mosely put up five-rebounds and four steals.
Three other athletes for Mississippi Valley shared the top spot for rebounds with Mosley, Kenya Arnold, Sydney Floyd and Makayla Bonner. Each player tallied five rebounds for MVSU.
Drake was paced by Sara Rhine, who put up a double-double with 27-points, 12-rebounds and three blocks.
Despite a promising start by MVSU, Drake was able to establish an offensive pattern early to take a decisive lead. Entering the halftime break, the Devilettes were down by 17-points. In the third, Mississippi Valley held Drake to 25, while scoring 18, which proved to be their strongest quarter.
In the final ten-minutes, Drake built on their lead with a 26-14 period.
