Women's Basketball Falters at Western Kentucky

Western Kentucky 87, Mississippi Valley State 48

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Mississippi Valley State fell to 0-7 on the year after an 87-48 loss to Western Kentucky Tuesday night in the E.A. Diddle Arena.

LaKendra Bassett led the Devilettes with 17 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals. Sydney Floyd added 10 points and eight rebounds.

The Hilltoppers had four players in double-figures, led by Tashia Brown's 26 points. Ivy Brown notched a double-double for WKU with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Raneem Elgedawy and Sidnee Bopp scored 12 points each.

WKU was able to go on a 9-4 point run to finish the opening period, thus claiming an 18-10 advantage. Mississippi Valley struggled to gain their footing offensively, yet there were sparks on both sides of the ball.

The Devilettes fought brilliantly throughout the contest, yet they were unable to close gap.

Mississippi Valley will be in action again when they return home to host the Colonels of Nicholls State on Friday, December 15 at 2:00 p.m. Admission is free for the public.
