Women’s Basketball Pushes Past Lady Bulldogs

HUNTSVILLE – For the second time this season, the Devilettes of Mississippi Valley pushed past the Lady Bulldogs of Alabama A&M University. In the first contest, held in Itta Bena, MVSU won 60-58, while their latest meeting ended 58-52.

Ashley Beals continues her domination on the opposition, finishing the contest with a unique double-double of 18-rebounds and 17-points. Kristy Parker paced the Devilettes' offense with 20-points, she also added six-rebounds and four assists.

The second quarter was the only period Alabama A & M was able to outscore Mississippi Valley and that was by one point. With shots ringing true from every direction, the Devilettes blazed through defenders left and right.

MVSU started closing the contest with a 21-18 third quarter and defensive pressure in the fourth sealed the victory in favor of the Devilettes.

With the win, the Devilettes reestablish their footing in the Southwestern Athletic Conference ranking, improving to 6-4.

Mississippi Valley will complete their Alabama swing in Montgomery, Alabama, when they face the Lady Hornets of Alabama State University on Monday, February 6 at 5:30 p.m.
