NEW ORLEANS – (Softball) Mississippi Valley coasted to two five inning victories in the "Big Easy," over the Tigers of Grambling State University. In game one, MVSU won 9-0 and 10-1 in game two.
The Devilettes scored two runners in the top of the first, to take an early lead. From that point forward, MVSU never relinquished their hold on the lead. The third inning was explosive for the Devilettes, as seven runners crossed home plate.
Mississippi Valley was done scoring and their defense held the Lady Tigers scoreless.
Rebekah Clinton received the win for Mississippi Valley.
In game two, for the second time that day, MVSU sealed the contest in five.
Grambling attacked first, scoring a runner in the bottom of the first. Mississippi Valley responded with two runs of their own in the top of the second.
In the third inning, Mississippi Valley exploded with eight runs; including a three-RBI homer by Deja Talton.
Chandler Ellis landed the victory from the pitcher's circle for the Devilettes.
