STARKVILLE, Miss. – (Baseball) An early lead carried the Bulldogs of Mississippi State University to a 5-0 victory over the Delta Devils of Mississippi Valley State University.
The opening inning went scoreless, a testament to the defensive stance of both teams. In the second, MSU was able to score three runs.
With a strong presence in the outfield, both teams were able to control the other's scoring efforts. Mississippi State was able to score two additional runs in the eighth to finish scoring.
MVSU finished with four hits and one error, while holding MSU to five runs on 10 hits and two errors.
