ITTA BENA, Miss. (Softball) – Mississippi Valley entered Saturday's double on a high after a come from behind victory on Friday night. The Lady Hornets entered with the same passion and drive. Game one ended 8-5 in favor of Alabama State, while game two wrapped 15-5 in six innings.
Game One:
Alabama State struck first in the top of the first with one run. In the bottom of the third, Mississippi Valley scored four runs.
ASU responded with four runs in the top of the fourth, twice in the fifth and once in the sixth. The Devilettes scored once in the bottom of the sixth.
MVSU finished with five runs, nine hits and three errors.
Chandler Ellis received the loss for Mississippi Valley.
Game Two:
In game two the clouds rolled in. Alabama State started the game with three runs, the Devilettes responded with three runs of their own.
In the second inning both teams recorded one run each. In the third, the Lady Hornets scored five runs. They also scored twice in the fourth and four in the sixth, to end the contest in six innings.
MVSU added one run in the bottom of the fifth.
Shyanne Downing took the loss for Mississippi Valley inside the pitcher's circle. MVSU finished with five runs on eight hits and five errors.
