MONTGOMERY (Softball) – The Devilettes of Mississippi Valley faced the Lady Tigers of Texas Southern in the first round of the Southwestern Athletic Conference Tournament, dropping the contest 7-2.
Statistically, the score only tells one side of the story. With the Lady Tigers outpacing the Devilettes by only two runs and each tallying one error, the score should have been closer. However, a three-run homer by Texas Southern made the difference.
TSU opened the first inning with two-runs. Neither team was able to score again until the Lady Tigers exploded with five-runs in the bottom of the fifth.
The Devilettes gained traction in the top of the sixth, scoring two runs with two outs. The seventh inning was an exchange of hits that did not result in any runners score for either team.
Rebekah Clinton was credited with the loss for Mississippi Valley in the pitcher's circle.
