Walk-off Homerun Concludes Devilettes Rally

ITTA BENA, Miss. – (Softball) Mississippi Valley State softball has their sights on entering the Southwestern Athletic Conference tournament in second place and in order to do so, they have to go through the Lady Hornets of Alabama State University.

In Friday's contest, the Devilettes rallied back from a 6-1 deficit to take the game 8-6, on a walk-off homerun by Jordan Brown.

ASU recorded two runs in the opening inning to take an early lead. MVSU scored once in the bottom of the second, dividing the point difference in half.

The Lady Hornets added fuel to the fire, scoring once in the fourth and three runners in the fifth. It was in the fifth inning that Alabama State ran out of juice and Mississippi Valley took over. Scoring four in the fifth, one in the sixth, the score was knotted at six.

The Lady Hornets were stumped by the Devilettes' defense in the top of the inning. MVSU's Jordan Brown delivered in a huge way to end the game in regulation.

MVSU ended the contest with eight runs, seven hits and five errors. Rebekah Clinton earned the win for the Devilettes.
