ITTA BENA – (Softball) Mississippi Valley's softball team dropped both games in their doubleheader against the Alabama A & M University Lady Bulldogs. In game one, MVSU fell 8-0 and in game two their rally fell short 10-9.
GAME ONE:
Game one ended in a run rule decision (six innings). AAMU was able to score once in the second inning and three time in the third.
With a scoreless fourth, the contest was still within reach of MVSU. In the fifth inning, the Lady Bulldogs scored three runs. Holding, the Devilettes scoreless in the bottom of the inning, Alabama A & M scored their eighth run in the top of the sixth.
Chandler Ellis took the loss in the pitcher's circle.
GAME TWO:
In game two, Mississippi Valley turned the diamond into a battlefield.
The Lady Bulldogs scored four run in the top of the first. The Devilettes were able to score one in the bottom of the inning. In the third, AAMU scored once in the third.
With their bats heating up, Mississippi Valley turned up the heat, scoring three runs in the bottom of the inning.
Alabama A & M was able to score twin in the fourth. MVSU responded in the bottom of the inning with four runs. In the fifth, one runner came in for the Devilettes, taking MVSU up 9-7.
AAMU was able to score three runs in the sixth to clinch the victory.
Rebekah Clinton was credited with the loss for MVSU in the pitcher's circle.
