LAFAYETTE – The Devilettes of Mississippi Valley faced the University of Louisiana Lafayette in an intense exhibition game, with the contest ending a draw (1-1).
Mississippi Valley placed pressure on the Ragin' Cajuns for the full ninety-minutes of play.
Light-footed Laadi Issaka picked up where she left off last season, scoring the lone goal for the Devilettes. Issaka recorded five shots with three being on goal in the 79-minutes she played.
Freshman Adrienne Baker started at goalie for the Devilettes. In the 45-minute first half, Baker recorded one save.
Veteran goalie Sydney Newport played the second half for Mississippi Valley, allowing one goal in the 80th minute. Newport recorded five saves.
Mississippi Valley travels back to south Louisiana, to face the Lady Tigers of Louisiana State University on August 18th at 6 pm and Nicholls State at 1:00 pm. The games are slated for Baton Rouge and Thibodaux, Louisiana.
