THIBODAUX, La. – Mississippi Valley's soccer team turned up the heat on Sunday afternoon in Thibodaux, Louisiana, when they shut-out the Colonels 1-0, on their own field.
MVSU finished their two-game southern Louisiana trip with a 1-1 record. Adrienne Baker started the contest for the Devilettes at goalie. While playing 60:35 seconds, Baker recorded two saves. Veteran goalie, Rita Gyasi finished the contest, playing 29:25 and recording two saves.
MVSU only recorded five shots, two of which were on goal. Forward Rhonique Alexander scored her first goal as a Devilette less than a minute into the second half.
For the goal, Alexander clipped it inside the box over the goalie's head. With the advantage, the Devilettes' defense turned up the heat, preventing the Colonel's front line from taking too many shots.
Mississippi Valley State will host Louisiana State on Sunday, August 27th at 3:00 pm.
