ITTA BENA- The Devilettes soccer team hosted the Lady Techsters of Louisiana Tech in their home season opener, dropping the contest 5-1.
The contest started quickly for the Lady Techsters, as Kailee Hervey scored on a pass from Monica Gebler two minutes into the game.
With back-to-back goals in the 13th and 14th minute by Louisiana Tech's Mylene Roy-Ouellet and Amber Posthauer), Louisiana Tech took a 3-0 lead into halftime.
In the first half, MVSU's goalies recorded two saves, while La Tech earned one.
The second half, started with a penalty kick goal by Lorena Lopez (4-0). Sheyenne Bonnick scored her first career goal as a Devilette on a pass from Laadi Issaka (4-1).
The final goal on the contest was a header from Elizabeth Doll.
The goalkeepers for Mississippi Valley finished with five goals allowed and four saves.
The Devilettes will travel to Fayetteville, Arkansas, to face the University of Arkansas on September 3rd.
