PRAIRIE VIEW – Mississippi Valley wrapped their weekend trip to Texas, with a trip to face the Panthers of Prairie View A & M University.
In the first twenty minutes of play, the Panthers were able to jump out to a commanding lead. The opening minutes were close in score, with MVSU's Jordan Evans landing a three-pointer to lift the Delta Devils up by two. A responding jumper by Prairie View knotted the score at six. Evans responded with another three to increase the Delta Devil lead to three.
Kylan Phillips drove into the paint for a layup to increase the cushion to five.
The Panthers increased their defensive pressure and turned the momentum into the contest. At the conclusion of the half, Prairie View 51-19.
The second half was in favor of the Delta Devils as they were able to contain the Panthers 45-40. During the final twenty, Mississippi Valley drove to the basket and notched outside shots to show their versatility on the court. Ultimately, it was the first half that decided the outcome of the game.
Evans paced the Delta Devils with 30-points, two rebounds, four assists and one steal. Dante Scott and Arinze Anakwenze each scored 13-points.
Mississippi Valley returns home to host the Tigers of Jackson State University on Saturday, January 27, 2018. Game time is slated for 4:00 pm.
