FORT WORTH, Texas – The Devilettes of Mississippi Valley State University officially opened their basketball season Sunday, falling 96-47 at Power 5 Conference opponent TCU.
 
LaKendra Bassett scored 13 points to lead the Devilettes (0-1), who will play their first nine contests away from home. Makayla Bonner (pictured) came off the bench to score 12 points on 5-of-10 shooting.
 
Jordan Moore led five Horned Frogs scoring in double-figures Sunday. TCU (2-0) is a member of the Big 12 Conference.
 
Bassett made two out of her five 3-point tries during Sunday's game. Angelica Darcus chipped in eight points for the Devilettes, shooting 3-of-6 from the floor.
 
The Devilettes conclude their trip to the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex on Monday when they visit SMU. Tipoff from Moody Coliseum is scheduled for 7 p.m.
