MEMPHIS (Softball) – The Devilettes of Mississippi Valley State wrapped up the University of Memphis 2018 Tournament with a 2-1 victory over the Lady Tigers of Tennessee State University.

The contest started sluggish for both teams, as neither was able to score in the first four innings. In the fifth, the contest started to heat up and the bats began to sing. TSU was able to score in the top of the inning on a single to the shortstop position.
Mississippi Valley dipped the Tennessee State bats in cold water because they shut their offense completely down. Elissa Salinas doubled down the left line to score Tabrielle Higgins.
In the sixth inning, Dejanae Gage sent a sacrifice fly to centerfield to score Miranda Sandoval, taking the Devilettes up 2-1.
MVSU tallied 2 runs on five hits and one error. Chandler Ellis took the win in the pitcher's circle.
The Devilettes will travel to Thibodaux, Louisiana, to Nicholls State University on March 13th. The two teams will face off at 4:00 and 6:00 pm.
