THIBODAUX, La. - Mississippi Valley State dropped a pair of contest at Nicholls State Tuesday, falling 10-2 and 7-1 to the Lady Colonels.

MVSU struck first in the opening contest as Elissa Salinas delivered a two-out RBI single to score Ikeyia Alexander, who singled to open the second inning. However, Salinas was put out trying to stretch to second. Nicholls State took control with a three-run frame in the bottom of the inning, highligted by a two-run single from Yasmeen Williams.

After MVSU got one back in the third thanks to Sharia Cormier reaching on a fielder's choice that allowed Kennedy Lester to score, Williams delivered another two-run single in the next frame. The Lady Colonels ultimately tacked on seven unanswered runs to seal the win. Williams had five RBI.

Alexander had two hits. Alejandra Salazar took the loss, allowing six runs on four hits in 2.2 innings.

In game two, MVSU allowed seven unanswered runs and was held to four hits. Jodeci Afoa-Tuia accounted for Valley's lone RBI, a single to centerfield that scored Lexany Terrones in the sixth inning.
