BATON ROUGE (Softball) – Mississippi Valley swung up from Nicholls State to face off against Southwestern Athletic Conference foe, Southern University. Mississippi Valley's bats were ringing on the breeze as they tallied six runs on seven hits and one error, while holding Southern to two runs on four hits and three errors.

Southern started scoring in the fourth with a homer to left field. In the fifth, Mississippi Valley came roaring to life. Deshonte Smith reached on a fielder's choice and earned the RBI. Elissa Salinas advanced to second, Miranda Sandoval advanced to third on the throw and Dejanae Gage scored on an error. Lexany Terrones doubled down the left line to score Salinas and Sandoval.
Southern scored once more in the top of the sixth. In the sixth, Salinas singled up the middle and scored Kailyn Dunn. The seventh saw Gage single to left field to score Terrones.
Finally, Dunn singled to right field to score Ikeyia Alexander.
Alyssa Montes improved to 2-1 for the Devilettes in the pitcher's circle.
