MONTGOMERY (Softball) – The Devilettes of Mississippi Valley State fell 10-5 to the Lady Hornets of Alabama State.
In a two hour and fifteen-minute contest, the Devilettes accumulated five runs on six hits and two errors. ASU totaled 10 runs on 10 hits and one error.
In the opening inning, MVSU scored three runs, with another two – one in the fifth and finally one more in the seventh.
Alabama State scored three in the second, one in the third, one in the fifth and five runs in the sixth. Chandler Ellis took the loss for Mississippi Valley in the pitcher's circle.
Lexany Terrones scored on a wild pitch to start scoring for the Devilettes. Kennedy Lester scored on a fielder's choice by Jodeci Afoa-Tuia. Natalie Bishop also reached on a fielder's choice and scored Sharia Cormier on the play.
In the fifth, Afoa-Tuia singled to right field to score Dejanae Gage. In the seventh, Kailyn Dunn grounded out to the second basemen and scored Miranda Sandoval.
