MONROE, La. – Mississippi Valley State (7-28) dropped an 18-2 non-conference tilt to Louisiana-Monroe Tuesday evening at the ULM Softball Complex.
After allowing four runs in the opening frame, Mississippi Valley State drew within two as Jodeci Afoa-Tuia singled in Kailyn Dunn, and Lexany Terrones (2-for-3, R) scored during a error that allowed Dejanae Gage to reach first. However, DeShonte Smith grounded out to end the inning, stranding two Devilettes on base.
The Warhawks pulled away with an offensive splurge, scoring a combined 14 runs over the fourth and fifth innings to seal the game.
Sydney McKay led ULM with three runs scored on a 2-for-3 line from the batter's box. Bailey Thibodeaux was 2-for-2 with three runs and two RBI, and Victoria Pederson scored three runs as well.
