ITTA BENA (Softball) – The Devilettes of Mississippi Valley State defeated the Lady Tigers of Jackson State University 5-1 in game one of the three game conference series.

Mississippi Valley State took a quick lead by scoring four runs in the bottom of the first inning. MVSU scored their final run in the bottom of the second.

Sharia Cormier reached base on an error by the third basemen, Kailyn Dunn scored. Iyanna Alexander singled to center field to score Lexany Terrones. Deshonte Smith reached first on an error by the right fielder, Alexander and Cormier scored.

In the second Terrones reached on error by the first basemen and Kennedy Lester scored. Jackson State scored their lone run in the top of the sixth.

MVSU tallied five runs on two hits and four errors. Alyssa Montes took the win in the pitcher's circle.

The Devilettes and Lady Tigers will face off in doubleheader on Saturday, April 21, 2018. First pitch of game one is set for 1:00 pm.
