Softball Sweeps Jackson State Series

ITTA BENA (Softball) – The Devilettes of Mississippi Valley State University only allowed the Lady Tigers of Jackson State University to score six runs across two contests. MVSU secured game one 10-3 and a grand slam homer by Alex Dobbins in the fourth inning of game two was a deciding factor in the contest ending 13-3 in five innings.

Game One:

JSU took an early lead in the top of the first inning with three runs. Mississippi Valley returned the favor with four runs of their own. The Devilettes continued to build their lead with two runs in the third, three in the fourth and once in the fifth.

Mississippi Valley scored 10 runs on 14 hits and no errors. Jezabelle Quintana received the win for the Devilettes in the pitcher's circle.

Game Two:

In game two, the momentum was completely in favor of the Devilettes. Mississippi Valley scored one run in the bottom of the first, to get things rolling. JSU couldn't put the brakes on the Devilettes as MVSU exploded with five runs in the second inning. In the third, Mississippi Valley scored one run.

Alexandra Dobbins subbed into the game – in the fourth, swung on the first pitch with the bases loaded and sent the ball sailing across the left field fence.

After the grand slam, the Devilettes scored an additional two runs. MVSU finished with 13 runs on 10 hits and one error.
