LORMAN (Baseball) – The Delta Devils baseball team went toe-to-toe with the Braves of Alcorn State, splitting the double on Saturday. In game one, MVSU shut Alcorn out 5-0 and the second contest with into extra innings with the Braves capturing the contest 11-10.
Game One:
MVSU scored two runs in the first inning and their final three in the top of the eight. The Delta Devils scored five runs on four hits and recorded no errors. Alcorn had six hits and two errors.
Nicholas Johnson took the win for the Delta Devils. Quavante McGregory scored first for Mississippi Valley followed by Fredrick Spencer, II.
Game Two:
In game two, the Delta Devils scored three runs in the first inning, while holding the hosting Braves to one.
Alcorn was able to go on a run, scoring once in the third, five in the fifth and three in the sixth. Down but certainly not out, Mississippi Valley rallied back to knot the game at 10-all, by scoring five in the eighth and two in the ninth.
ASU squeaked in a runner in the bottom of the tenth to take the contest.
Mississippi Valley score 10 runs on 14 hits and three errors.
