MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Devilettes of Mississippi Valley State University remain in search of their first win in Southwestern Athletic Conference play after falling 2-0 at Alabama State on Friday.

Valley's freshman goalkeeper Myisha Butts had a busy night for the Devilettes, stopping 10 out of the 12 shots on goal fired by Alabama State. The Lady Hornets held an 18-6 advantage in total shots taken.

The Devilettes (3-6-2) fell to 0-2-1 in conference play. Alabama State (3-6-0) remained undefeated in SWAC play, winning its third consecutive league match.

ASU's Makenna Lupori broke a scoreless tie shortly after the half-hour, scoring a goal in the 32nd minute. Teaggan Ilela, who assisted on Lupori's goal, gave Alabama State an insurance goal in the 66th minute.

The Devilettes travel north on Interstate Highway 65 for their next match at Alabama A&M on Sunday. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
