ITTA BENA, Miss. - Four Mississippi Valley State University (0-3)Â women's basketball players finished in double figures led by Diamond Wragg's game-high 19 points along with 11 rebounds in a 72-66 home loss against Murray State (1-1) Wednesday in the R.W. Harrison Complex.

- Diamond Wraggs recorded her first career double-double (19 points, 11 rebounds) making 9-of-13 field goals in 29 minutes.Â
- Shelli Thigpen had 13 points and five rebounds for her third consecutive game scoring in double figures.
- Ayonna Cotten made 3-of-8 three-pointers scoring 11 points while dishing out a season-best six assists.
- Erin Smith scored 10 points hitting three from long range. Smith also had five rebounds and one of three steals for the Devilettes.
- The MVSU bench outscored Murray State's bench 13-9 led by Angelica Darcus' four points and Ronnie Williams three points.
- Murray State's Macey Turley and Lacy Hawthorne both scored 18 points. Hawthorne grabbed 12 rebounds while Turley made 4-of-11 three-pointers.
How It Happened
- Smith's three-pointer in the beginning moments gave the Devilettes a 9-4 advantage in the first quarter.
- The Racers ended the period on a 7-1 run jumping to a 24-15 lead.Â
- Thigpen sparked MVSU in the second period scoring six points on an 8-0 run resulting in a one-point lead (27-26).
- The teams battled back and forth with Murray St. draining a three-pointer with 20-seconds remaining in the first half (34-32).Â
- Wraggs opened the third quarter with a layup followed by Cotten's three-pointer as MVSU went ahead, 37-36. She scored again pushing their lead to three (39-36) which would be their final time in front.
- The Racers began to hit shot after shot for the rest of the half. Hawthorne scored 12 points followed by Turley chipping with 10 points all in the second half.Â
- Murray State improved their field goal percentage from 35.3 percent (12-34) in the first half to 40 percent (14-35) in the second to pull away late for the road win.
