Late Run By Miami (OH) Cost Delta Devils in 79-67 Loss

OXFORD, OH - Mississippi Valley State University men's basketball fell 79-67 at Miami (OH) after the Red Hawks went on a double-digit run late in the second half. Brandon Kimble notched a double-double scoring a season-high 12 points with 11 rebounds on Sunday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After Miami (OH) took a 60-48 lead with 10:42 in the second half, the Delta Devils responded with a huge 9-0 run over the next four minutes of action shifting the momentum.
  • The MVSU duo of Michael Green and Brandon Kimble ignited their squad each scoring four points during the late run.
  • With under six minutes to go the Red Hawks held the Delta Devils to only one field goal by Quinton Alston at the 4:14 mark.
  • The Red Hawks offense found their stride and put the game out of reach thanks to a 19-0 run for a 79-60 lead with 1:41 to play.
  • Late baskets by Kimble, a three-pointer by Caleb Hunter, and a dunk by Jordan Lyons made it a 79-67 contest in favor of the Red Hawks as MVSU dropped their ninth game on the road.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Brandon Kimble recorded his first double-double of the season scoring 12 points while grabbing 11 rebounds. He shot 5-for-8 from the field and made 5-of-6 free throws.
  • Michael Green led the Delta Devils in scoring for the fourth consecutive game with 21 points. He made nine field goals and a pair of three-pointers.
  • Jordan Lyons registered his third double-digit scoring outing of the season scoring 14 points with five rebounds.
  • Torico Simmons finished with season-highs in both assists (5) and rebounds (4) and led MVSU with three steals.
  • The Delta Devils tied their season-low with only eight turnovers against Miami (OH).
  • Defensively, MVSU blocked five shots which is their second-most this season. Quinton Alston and Kimble each had two blocks apiece.
