RUSTON, La. (March 19, 2019) – Senior Morgan Lomax stole a base and scored the only run for Mississippi Valley State baseball in a 21-1 loss at Louisiana Tech Tuesday at J.C. Love Field. The Delta Devils were held to five hits while the Bulldogs finished with 18.
MVSU falls to an overall record of 2-8 while LA Tech improves to 12-8. Freshman Antonio Walker (0-1) went 2.2 innings in his first start of the season followed by relief pitchers redshirt sophomore Brandon Hawkins, senior Wendell Rieves and junior Aaron Barkley who all spent time on the mound.
In the eighth inning, freshman Kameron Spencer RBI singled to right field scoring senior Morgan Lomax for the lone Delta Devil run of the evening. Lomax reached on a fielding error, stole second and then moved to third on another error by the LA Tech defense.
Barkley singled to right field in the first inning, redshirt sophomore Billy Leflore singled through the right side in the fourth, senior Marshall Parrish singled to center field in the fifth and senior Frederick Spencer singled to center field in the seventh inning.
MVSU heads to Alcorn State for a weekend series against the Braves starting on Friday, March 22 at 6 p.m.
