JACKSON, Miss. – The Mississippi Valley State baseball team was quickly denied any chance of salvaging a game in their series with Jackson State Saturday (April 20). The Tigers scored seven in the first on the way to a 19-3 win and a sweep of the Delta Devils.
Marshall Parrish (Hattiesburg, Miss.) got Valley on the board with a two run single in the fourth.
Antonio Walker (Ypsilanti, Mich.) provided the third run with an infield single in the seventh.
Walker struggled as the starter, surrendering five over two innings of work.
Brandon Hawkins (Jacksonville, Ark.) provided steady relief with three innings of one run ball.
The 7-2 deficit was as close as the Devils would get. Jackson State put the game away by scoring 11 runs in the sixth inning.
Valley will return home for a Tuesday (April 23) meeting with Delta State. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m..
