Valley not ready for Reddies in sweep

ITTA BENA, Miss. – Mississippi Valley State was swept for the 12th time this season on the volleyball court, this time at the hands of the Henderson State Reddies. The visitors from Arkadelphia defeated the Devilettes 3-0 (14-25, 23-25, 15-25) Sunday (Sept. 22) at the R.W. Harrison HPER Complex.

Tyler Caliste (New Orleans, La.) led the match in kills with 11 in 33 attempts. Tylia Dixon (Chino, Calif.) and Jessica Bell (Dallas, Tex.) reached double digits in digs, and Ariana Austin (Crowley, Tex.) saw her first action in three weeks, recording 11 assists.

For Henderson State, Abby Blackburn earned 23 assists and Adrianna Hartmann earned nine kills and a .615 hitting percentage. Libero MaKenzie Thoman and Sabrina Show each tallied 12 digs.

The Devilettes fall to 2-13 on the 2019 campaign and the Reddies improved to 7-6. Valley will have to shake the loss off quickly as they take on Tougaloo Monday (Sept. 23) in Itta Bena. The contest is a rematch of a September 10th showdown in Jackson, which stands as Valley's last win.
