HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Mississippi Valley State Devilettes soccer team got all they could handle and more from the Southern Miss Golden Eagles Sunday (Sept. 8). The result was an 8-0 defeat for Valley, who fall to 1-2-1 on the season. 

Valley was outshot 36-1, with Shay McCool (Chino, Calif.) taking the Devilettes' only shot. McKenzie McCarthy (Olive Branch, Miss.) registered 13 saves. 

The Golden Eagles scored early and often, with five goals in the first 22 minutes. Jenny Caracheo got the fifth goal to record a hat trick just over a quarter into the match. 

Mississippi Valley State will travel to Little Rock for a Thursday (Sept. 12) showdown.
