Itta Bena, Miss.- The Mississippi Valley State Devilettes get their first win of the 2020-21 season against the University of Louisiana-Monroe by a score of 53-51 on Tuesday night in Monroe, Louisiana.  

Head Coach Ashley Walker- Johnson gave these comments after tonight's victory.  

"It was exciting, it was a lot of ups and downs, we came out a little flat and ULM took it to us early, but we were able to settle down during the first quarter.
In the second quarter we were able to impose our will, but we got complacent which led us to being in a dog fight. 
At halftime I told the girls the score was zero to zero.
They did a great job, but we were on the road and they are going to come out with more intensity and energy in the second half and we must match that energy."

How It Happened 

• Zakiya Mahoney led the way with her 17 points and ten rebounds to give her back-to-back games with a double-double, not to mention her two steals. 
• Diamond Wraggs added eight points and five rebounds in 25 minutes of play. 
• Ronni Williams chipped in eight points, six rebounds and an assist. 
• The Devilettes held the lead for 33 minutes and 52 seconds of the game shooting 37.8 percent (17-45) from the field, 15.4 percent (2-13) from the three-point line, and 65.4 percent (17-26) at the charity stripe. 

Next Up 

• The Devilettes travel to Northwestern State University for their final non-conference match-up against the Lady Demons on Sunday, December 20th at 1:00pm.
